Corten steel is used in garden sculptures and public art installations for its organic appearance. When rusted, Corten weathering steel has a lovely deep brown-red oxide surface. Unlike mild steel, the layer that develops on the exposed surfaces protects the underlying metal from corrosion. Therefore, Corten metal sculptures don't need to be treated in any way prior to installation for longevity.
